Co-Authoring With Lee Goldberg

I’ve been a Lee Goldberg fan for a long time, so I was thrilled when he agreed to co-author a series with me.  The decision actually took place over a pizza and a pitcher of beer when we realized we had the same vision.  We wanted to write books about fascinating people who were involved in high stakes adventures set in glamorous, exotic locations …like Dajmaboutu, Indonesia, and Calabasas, California.

We had fun writing The Heist, and we’re still even talking to each other after twelve edits.  We hope you have just as much fun reading our first co-authored effort.

Answers to Popular Questions

Most popular question #1:  Does the release of The Heist (co-authored adventure novel with Lee Goldberg) mean the end of the Plum series?
Answer:  No.  The Heist is the first book in its own series, and will in no way affect the Plum series.

Most popular question #2:  When is the next Plum novel coming out and what is the title?
Answer: Twenty is currently scheduled for release in November 2013.  As soon as I have a confirmed date, it will be posted on the site.  No title to announce yet, but hopefully soon.

Most popular question #3:  What is Twenty about?
Answer:  I’m not telling you that!  But I will tell you that Twenty starts off where Nineteen left off.

Most popular question #4:  Will there be another Plum movie or TV show?
Answer:  That’s up to the Hollywood people.  As soon as I hear any exciting news, I’ll be sure to post it on the site, Facebook, Twitter, etc.

Having Fun With February

The Consequences of Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years

A lot of people ask me how I come up with Lula’s diets.  I don’t make these diets up, other people do, and I try them then pass them onto Lula.  My latest failure was the all liquid diet.  I didn’t read the whole article about the diet, but I think I was supposed to only eat soups.  Thing is wine is a liquid, and it’s made out of grapes, so maybe it could qualify as a soup.  And when strawberry ice cream melts, it looks a lot like the dessert soups I’ve seen in magazines?  Needless to say I didn’t lose any weight.

Prepping for Christmas and New Years

I’m okay at baking, but I’m better at eating.  Here’s a list of my top five favorite homemade, holiday treats I’ve eaten so far this year.

#3.  A gingerbread house (I swear it was a more like a gingerbread shed)

Prepping for Thanksgiving

Last month’s blog entry was about candy, this month’s blog entry is going to be about what I want for Thanksgiving, and you might as well prepare yourself for next month’s entry… Christmas cookies.  That of course will lead to January’s entry “My Latest Diet Craze”.  But until January rolls around, here’s what I want for Thanksgiving not counting turkey, turkey and more turkey.  Pumpkin pie, some of that fluffy sweet potato stuff with the marshmallows in it, homemade cranberry sauce, stuffing, green bean casserole, pumpkin pie… wait, did I already say that… little buttery rolls and last but not least GRAVY!

Prepping For Halloween

Okay, it’s time for me to admit it.  The candy I buy for the trick-or-treaters isn’t all for them.  Here is the order in which candy is mysteriously disappearing from the forty pound bag I bought.  First Snickers, then Almond Joys, followed by Peanut Butter Cups and Twix bars.  And in all honesty, I’m hoping no one knocks on my door on Halloween because those M&Ms and KitKats are really calling my name.

Let’s be honest, I’m computer-challenged.  It took me two months to learn how to Tweet (and I’m still not sure I’m RTing properly), much less figure out how to download the Twitter app for my phone and get it going.  But I’ve done it.  And now I’m Instagramming.  Look out world!  For those of you who Instagram (only available on smartphones… I think), you can find me @janetevanovich.  Not a whole lot of pictures yet, since I’m not doing much other than sitting in a chair, editing.  But there are pics of my family’s pets and some pictures my daughter, Alex, took of Marblehead, MA (Lizzy Tucker’s home town) and a few other fun shots.  Hopefully I’ll find something picture worthy every now and then, but if nothing else I suspect I can have a pretty good time with Instagram come tour time.  If you’re not an Instagram person, that’s okay.  I know how to share Instagram pictures on Twitter.  Woo hoo!

The next Plum novel, Notorious Nineteen, will be in stores… and ready for downloading… on November 20.  I’ll be posting part of chapter one on evanovich.com September 1, but I thought everyone might enjoy a few, non-spoiler hints about what’s in it.  Stephanie is back to driving Big Blue.  Grandma goes undercover as an old person (blame Lula who thought it was a good idea.)  Randy Briggs is head of security where Grandma is doing her spy work.  Ranger needs Stephanie.  And Lula is on a diet… of sorts.  Here she is picking out one of every kind of cookie at Italian Peoples Bakery and Deli in the Burg.

With book tour finished I’m ready to go back to work, in the world of Plum. But before I do I want to thank everyone who helped make Wicked Business a number one New York Times best seller, and I want to thank everyone  who sent in e-mails and messages letting me know how much they enjoyed Wicked Business.  I had a lot of fun writing it, and it seems the bonus e-book content was a big hit. We’re working hard on figuring out some fun bonus e-book content for Notorious Nineteen. I also want to thank everyone who came out to signings and events. You made the Wicked Business tour wicked fun.  :)  I especially enjoyed watching people try to bend s spoons. I swear some of you were really close!  Next time I’ll bring flimsier spoons with me.

In a few days Wicked Business will be in stores. There are Wicked and Plum stickers in the hardcover editions, but there was no way to include stickers with the E-book editions. It didn’t seem fair. What’s not to love here? An indoor lightning storm, a planetarium, an IMAX theater, and a Triceratops. There’s something for everyone. There’s even a whole room devoted to math. Personally I fell asleep standing in the math room, but I’m sure someone out there finds it completely captivating.

Okay, so it leans downhill a bit, and the ceilings inside are only six and a half feet high, and the whole house shakes when the washing machine hits the spin cycle. But the inside is filled with sunlight and memories of family and freshly baked bread. Not so different from people as they age, right?

St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner, so I thought it would be fun to share with you some of the green things I own.

Here are my green bananas…and a pineapple.  The pineapple isn’t green, but then the bananas probably won’t be green anymore by the time St. Patrick’s Day rolls around, either.  They’ll be brown.  For some reason my bananas always go from green to brown.  Why can’t I just once have a perfect, yellow banana?  And if you’re wondering why my “fruit bowl” is so small, it’s because it’s a bread basket.  I had bread in the basket initially, but it went moldy.  That was green, too.

My herb garden is green.  My daughter Alex, planted it for me.  I have basil, thyme, sage, oregano, rosemary and parsley.  That’s my dog, Ollie, sitting on a parsley plant.  Does that mean I can no longer claim it’s organic?  I swear I’ll only use that part of the parsley for garnishing.

What every St. Patrick’s Day needs, green cocktail napkins.  And as we all know, if it’s written on a cocktail napkin, it must be true.

I just want to take a moment to say THANK YOU to everyone who sent in an e-mail or posted on my Facebook page telling me how much you enjoyed the movie and/or the books.  It’s really meant a lot to me.  I also want to say an extra special thank you to everyone who sent in party pictures.  They’re incredible! I’m sincerely touched that so many of you made the release of this movie into such a fun event, complete with homemade shirts and cake and dinner parties.   Hopefully there will be a second movie.  Not only because I want to see Morelli get kicked out of the Buick naked, but because now that we have a better idea about how all this movie stuff works we can really gear up with shirts, stickers and new party ideas for everyone a lot sooner.

The premiere for One For the Money, the movie, was last night in New York city.  It was pretty exciting!  Here are my top five favorite parts about the premiere…

Favorite thing #1:  Walking the red carpet.  I felt like a movie star!
Favorite thing #2:  Jason O’Mara is twice as hot in person as he is on the screen.
Favorite thing #3:  Hanging out with Sherri Shepherd and her fans.
Favorite thing #4:  Getting free popcorn to snack on while I watched the movie.
Favorite thing #5:  Meeting John Leguizamo.  He plays Jimmy Alpha in the movie.  An amazing actor and all around great guy.

And just so you know, it’s not all glamorous…

Disaster #1:  They put false eyelashes on me, and I had an allergic reaction to the glue.  On the plus side, my eyes didn’t swell up and break out until after I saw the movie.
Disaster #2:  I was Spanxed up to the armpits, and afraid to drink anything.  Only Wonder Woman has enough bicep strength to pull a pair of Spanx up more than once in a night.

With the start of the new year, I’ve decided to add a blog to my site.  So you don’t have to check back every day, we’ll announce through the latest news and Facebook when I’ve made an entry.
For my first blog entry, here are my top five resolutions for 2012.

Resolution #5:  Stop hanging pantyhose on the elliptical to dry, and actually use the stupid thing for exercise.
Resolution #4:  Finally update the software on my iPod I bought back in 2006.
Resolution #3.  Eat just one thing Anthony Bourdain eats.
Resolution #2.  Take Christmas decorations down before Easter.
And my #1 New Year resolution is…
Eat more birthday cake! (It’s important to have at least one resolution you know you can successfully complete.)
